New EP From Canadian Alternative Music Outfit The Ember Glows

THE EMBER GLOWS · PASSERBY

Written by: Jen Dan

Hailing from Montréal, the New Wave-inspired alternative music outfit The Ember Glows have released their atmospheric debut EP Passerby independently this past Friday via Bandcamp.

The four-piece formed in 2019 and features members of the acts Room Control, Repo, Scene Noir, and Citylake.

Richard Bunze (guitar), Kevin Hills (bass), Martin Saint (vocals, guitar), and Dan Stefik (drums) create moodily brooding to dynamically vibrant songs that are drenched in ruminative baritone vocals, darkly shining guitars, low-register bass lines, and pushing drum beats.

“We came to call [the EP] Passerby because the lyrics contain multiple references to being a transient on a few different levels, whether lost in a foreign city, riding in a taxi by night, or even drifting away in your own life. It wasn’t planned this way… it just happened organically.” comments Saint.
