Jared Simmons is the artist and producer behind the downtempo electronic music project Vipid. He formed the act in 2017 in St. Louis, Missouri, but is now based in California.
Simmons (who is also a graphic artist) recently released his transformational new album, titled Memories, which is shaped from past experiences that inform the present day outlook of the musician.
The 9-song LP mixes electronic and ambient instrumentals that are reflective, expansive, and vespertine in vibe. There is a relaxing calmness that exudes from most songs that is akin to the sonic flow of artists like Tycho and Teen Daze.
Simmons comments, “Memories is an album that draws inspiration from early points in my life. As you look back on memories and recall the way life used to be, it’s often informed by all the things you’ve learned since then. Memories really was a way for me to channel those experiences and see them in a new light.”
