Brooklyn-based Middle Part is the synths-driven music project of singer-songwriter Andrew Selkōw. His trek into the Alaskan wilderness fired up his passion to create personal music that’s steeped in indie pop stylings from the ‘90s and 2000s.

Middle Part’s latest single, Heartbeat, is a lyrically sincere and instrumentally upbeat track that speaks to the emotional challenge of finding your way in the world.

As Selkōw puts it, “The song is centered around that chaotic feeling somebody in their 20s can feel when they’re learning to navigate life or what “the point of it all ” is.”

He’s soundtracked that angst with a contrast of sweetly bright synth notes, groovin’ bass line, shifting percussion, and a bubbling beat.

The song comes of off Middle Part’s upcoming EP, I Wish I Was Alive, a vulnerable look at Selkōw’s struggles depression, isolation, and loss.
