Philadelphia-located alternative rock/folk band PHNTMS recently unveiled a new performance video for their emotive and soulful folk-rock single Carabelle.
Sonically the pastoral track is gently laid-back, shining lightly with glistening acoustic guitar strings and floating woodwinds. Vocalist Alyssa Gambino heightens the reflective mood with a passionate delivery of lyrics that delve into the aftermath of a toxic relationship.
The single and video is leading up to the release of the band’s eagerly awaited self-titled EP. Gambino is joined by Adam Jessamine, Mikal Smith, and Gene Murphy as PHNTMS.
The video for Carabelle was directed by Jessamine and Tom Flynn, who’s directed Lamb Of God and All That Remains visuals. The clip was filmed in the outer region of Philadelphia and showcases the city’s natural beauty.
PHNTMS champions and promotes LGBTQA+ rights, with some of the members of the band belonging to the LGBTQA+ community. Murphy relates, “We want to bring hope to anyone who is in the closet and doesn’t feel safe coming out. Whether you are out as queer or not, your identity is valid and [maybe] our music helps you escape heteronormativity for a brief moment.”
