The Record StacheWe Had Magic, the second single taken from LAU’s forthcoming debut album, finds the songwriter and singer in a more retrospective mood than the previous offering.
In the same tradition of Ultravox’s Dancing With Tears In My Eyes or Robyn’s classic Dancing On My Own, the song (produced by French producer Ends 84) describes the end of a relationship, at the beat of big snares, sharp synth leads, and a meaty arpeggiated bass line.
We Had Magic depicts the exact moment when we realize there’s nothing else you can say or do to make the other person stay. Perhaps the most intimate output to date from LAU, this is the making of a future classic.
