Residing in Hays, Kansas, but musically exploratory, singer-songwriter Jordan Rome cut his teeth in a bunch of punk bands early on in his career.
But when Rome stepped out with solo material, he found his voice and it has many styles and moods. Blues and rock became cornerstones of his sound, but he also built up his output with forays into folk and hardcore music.
On Rome’s latest offering, a 2-song 7”, he extends his reach even further, unveiling a ruminative Americana lament with Charon and kicking it up on the fast and agitated rockabilly track Till the End.
The lyrics on each song reveal a starkly mordant streak, with Charon digging into Greek mythology (Charon was the ferryman of the River Styx, transporting the damned to the underworld).
This diverse 2-song taster whets the appetite for more music from this compelling musician and storyteller.
