South Korean producer IMLAY released his stunning and wondrous EP, Shurai, in late August, flaunting keen beats, deep drops, and grit and gloss steeped in a captivating, otherworldly atmosphere.
IMLAY is an expert experimenter who explores the electronic music realm with assured ease. He’s already delivered debut EP, Origin, and is one of the hottest producers in the East Asian realm.
IMLAY has worked on production for huge K-pop stars like Boa, Beenzino, and Jonghyun and was nominated at the 2017 Korea Music Awards for Best Electronic Record for Zanzan. He’s earned raves from outlets such as Nest HQ and Dancing Astronaut and was nominated by Nylon Korea as one of the Top 10 Best New Artists.
The 6-track Shurai EP comes out via SM Entertainment’s ScreaM Records and it melds East Asia sonics into more familiar chill trap and future bass constructs. IMLAY collaborates with vocalists like Laura Brehm and YESEO to create a diverse and interesting EP that travels from moody introspection (Low) and nocturnal menace (Nine Tails) to bright uplift (Daylight) and alluring highs (Rule The Fire).
