British-Chinese hip-hop/electronic dance music artist Lui Peng has only four releases to his name so far, but he’s making the most of it with nearly one million streams across platforms.
Peng started out on his musical journey back in 2012 when he posted cover songs on YouTube. He gained notice for his acoustic spin on pop hits. While a student at Abbey Road institute, he released his first original track, Demons, which appears on his upcoming Demons EP.
The singer has also delivered two more tunes on European dance labels, the chill Nocturnal and catchy I Still Wonder, which is on H&M store’s music playlist. Peng is planning on dropping two EPs this year with the Demons EP featuring two guest artist collabs and five different producers.
Peng’s latest track, the lyrics-packed What To Say, shows off his melodic hip-hop vocal flow and sharp production skills (with an assist from Narou). He rolls with ease through his lightly staccato phrases while backed by spare, but crisp percussion and beats, twisty female vocal accompaniment, and globular keyboard notes.
