Summertime comes early on the casual roll out of I’m Good, electronic/hip-hop group No Suits’ new single from its upcoming EP titled Virgin. The dudes behind No Suits, Pierro, Sanghvi, Ed Hill, and recent addition Reed Hallums, prefer to not be cogs in the machine, but instead, entrepreneurs. They chose their band name accordingly, basing it on the fact that they don’t have to wear suits to work.
No Suits has dropped numerous hit singles, including Strawberry Wine feat. Aubren Elaine and Matt Capone and Escape Reality feat. Aubren Elaine, as well as remixes of a remix of ODESZA’s Say My Name and Major Lazer’s Be Together feat. Wild Belle. The group’s inspirations range from Daft Punk to Tame Impala and Jimi Hendrix.
A mellow vibe flows through most of I’m Good, which features Abhi the Nomad and boasts a supremely laid-back, but catchy vocal refrain and shuffling beat. Who can resist the dope mediations of the deeply zoned out singer intoning, “I’m good / She good / We good / It’s all good / and that’s good.”?
A quick and sharp-worded rapper paints a blunt hip-hop picture over the slo-mo tones and starry synths sprinkle, speaking of his honey and days that are sunny (and staying inside with the curtains drawn, doing, you know, indoor activities…).
