SINGLE REVIEW: ELECTRONIC DUO DROELOE TAKES A GLITTERING GLITCH-POP TRIP ON NEW TRACK BON VOYAGE

Dutch electronic duo Droeloe has made a big sonic imprint with its future bass/glitch-pop sound.  Vincent Rooijers and Hein Hamers started out on SoundCloud, where they uploaded their fresh tracks and curated other releases in ‘Pokoe Pack’ mixes that caught the ear of music listeners and also San Holo, who signed the duo to his bitbird label.

Droeloe went on to drop a string of singles including Make My Day with its half-million SoundCloud hits and follow-up “zZz” which got to #1 on Hype Machine and reached 5 million streams on all platforms.  The duo has also delivered a run a official remixes on bitbird that have all placed within the Top 10 of Hype Machine.

The official remix of We Don’t Talk Anymore by Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez premiered at Billboard and has racked up over 3 million Spotify listens.  Droeloe has since branched out to other labels, releasing Shibuya on Elysian and now Bon Voyage on Monstercat, which launched November 7th.

Bon Voyage is an enticing trip that has already sailed away with over 24.5K streams on SoundCloud within a day.  The composition is ebullient to mellow glitch-pop at its finest, filled with snappily clacking percussion (Is it from fingertip clicks or popping bubble wrap?), airy, winding synths, a sporadic, super-fast future bass beat, and bright, cascading ‘casino coins’ noise.  Through it all, fragments of wistfully cooing female vocals are backed by floating vocal support.  The overall effect is light and reflective and takes the listener on a glittering voyage away from the everyday.
