SINGLE REVIEW: THOREAU SHINES ON A SHADOWY EMD REMIX OF EMBER ISLAND’S COVER OF CREEP BY RADIOHEAD

Thoreau, the Boulder, Colorado-based producer, remix artist, and former member of duo SummitScape, puts his singular electronic stamp on his reworked tracks, from his first official release, Low (Thoreau remix) by Trace (which reached #1 on Hype Machine) to the revamped Superstar by Krewella X Pegboard Nerds X NGHTMRE.

Thoreau’s latest remix venture is for Ember Island’s cover of the Radiohead classic Creep.  The Swedish indie pop band is one of numerous acts taking on this emotive epic and Thoreau reimagines Creep even further, giving the original alt-rocker and Ember Island’s indie popper a chillout EDM spin.

Radiohead’s lyrics may be present, as well as Ember Island’s lightly brooding vocals, but the sonic vibe is all Thoreau, from the foreboding, synths-based atmosphere to the use of live acoustic and electric guitars, crisply zinging electronic notes, and dynamically effervescent percussion.
