ORQID’s Tom Butcher has collaborated with fellow Seattle-based electronic musician Benedictus on the uplifting single Fill the World.
All proceeds from the track will go towards directly supporting music for school kids through the non-profit organization Music Unites.
The Record Stache is proud to host the premiere of Fill the World. The song was written and produced by Butcher / Benedictus and mastered by Nathan Moody at Obsidian Sound, with cover art by Wes Pearson.
The New Wave-‘80s-infused electronic/synth-pop number is an effervescent delight, buoyed by a profusion of bubbly synth notes, crisp percussion, and emphatically smacked beat.
Heartfelt vocals express the positive message that, “It’s up to us to change the world… / Everyone, let’s fill the world with love.”
Tom Butcher gives a statement about the song and its intent, revealing, “For anyone with empathy and concern about our friends, family, and fellow humans as well as the increasingly dangerous world whether from climate change, political divisiveness, and now a pandemic health crisis, the walls of the world can start to feel like they’re closing in.”
“So many of us can feel that we’re powerless and that, even though we might be angry or yearning for change, we have no ability to make meaningful changes in the world.”
“But this song is about destroying that narrative and giving all of us some agency. We all have a voice that we can use, and the best way to bring people together and to shape the world in the image we want is to fill the world with love.”
“Benedictus and I wrote and recorded this song in my Seattle studio in early 2020 before the pandemic hit. But now more than ever, we felt that the world needs love, and we want to empower each and every one of us with a message of hope, compassion, and energy. That’s why we decided to release this song now. Let’s fill the world with love!”
