NEWS: HIP-POP SINGER-SONGWRITER CARTER REEVES DELIVERS A STORYTELLING SONG ABOUT LOVE & FRIENDSHIP

Written by: Jen Dan

Reflective singer-songwriter Carter Reeves has been crafting music for a while, first as the frontman of alternative hip-hop duo Aer, and now as a solo artist. He jumps between, and sometimes blends, different genres to create his unique take on the modern DIY songwriting style.

Reeves’ latest composition is the relaxed, engaging, yet still longing hip-pop track Front Porch, that, even with its title, radiates warm and welcoming vibes. Reeves sings about the emotional connection and love between friends on this storytelling number

Playing acoustic guitar, Reeves sings in a wistfully airy tone and is backed by a variety of instruments: shivery strings, globular xylophone hits, subdued synths, and more. He breaks out with a hip-hop flow on the swaying chorus sections, showcasing his rapid, rhythmic roll and emotive vocal delivery.

Reeves delves into the meaning of the song, commenting, “…this is my most personal track yet. Reflecting on a past fling that left me skeptical of future romances, it has everything you need to chill you out amidst a stressful relationship. You’re not alone.”
