French electro duo Else having been making waves for a while with their mesmerizing sound. They’ve dropped two EPs in the past that were highlighted by the potent tracks Her Movie and 1979.
Else, who originate from the city of Toulouse (in the Southeast of France), have now returned with their second single (the first being Night Moves) Back To 8 and its accompanying video.
The vivid vid was directed by the French National Award-nominated directors Adrien Lagier and Ousmane Le. They capture the in-between hours in the life of Amine, a young man who lives in Montfermeil, Seine Saint Denis. Amin is depicted hanging out with his friends in their banlieue as they chop cars, show off bold moves on their motorbikes, and watch the latest match at night.
The instrumental soundscape of Back To 8 drops emphatic beats and rises with brightly percolating, pushy electro-notes. Fizzy synths breeze through the composition, while ticking percussion and echoed pulsations keep the mood urgent and vibrant.
Else will soon release a two-part project titled Sequence. The double EP will bring the act’s deft French touch to the electronic music realm. Keep an ear out for this one!
