The Record Stache

Written by: Jen Dan

North American (from Cloverdale, Canada) pop artist Carson Hoy (formerly of The UV Boys) debuts his original sound with Live Forever, a euphoric psychedelic pop single with futurist lyrics about love and wanting it forever.

The Record Stache is proud to host the premiere of this dreamy and vibrant alt-pop track.

Carson brings an eclectic, genre-crossing sound by writing, recording, mixing, and mastering everything he creates in his own studio Cloverdale Studios.

His songs are authentic and face personal issues that show his emotions and deep thoughts openly, all with a joyful, laid-back irreverence. His bold alternative pop sound mashes up his background in rock, EDM, and hip hop groups for a wide sonic palette to keep his fans guessing.

Carson has recently worked with producer Igor Khoroshev (YES, Simple Plan), rapper/producer Rozz Dyliams (Lil Peep, $UICIDEBOY$), and hip hop legend Kool Keith (Ultramagnetic MCs, MF Doom), perfecting his production and mixing/mastering skills.

New single Live Forever describes an alternative life where Carson can live forever, never having to choose music over a relationship, and spending a human life span with a girl he loves.  This is a follow-up to his first single release, the EDM/pop banger 10 More Things.

Carson describes the meaning of Live Forever, where the dilemma from a real-life relationship sparked the lyrical content of the single:

“I’ve always had to choose between my devotion to music or love, which wasn’t something I thought I’d have to do, you know?”

“This relationship made me double down on my music and I wrote the song in the week after I left. She showed me all this cool vibey music (which inspired Live Forever’s style).  We were like lightning in a bottle… It was going straight to marriage and kids, travelling the world.”

Carson concludes, “I totally wanted it too. That choice tested me and I’ll never forget it. It gave me a great reason to go all-in with my music.”

The cover art of Live Forever, which shows Carson lying on the floor surrounded with Polaroids of his future wife and family, was also used in an animated video by artist Marc Statz (animator for Detective Pikachu).

Live Forever is out now on all platforms.

Carson plays Fortune Sound Club in Vancouver on August 30th. Purchase tickets:
