Electronic-ambient duo Winter Witches hail from Adelaide, Australia and are set to release their new single, The One, on August 6th. The Record Stache is pleased to host the premiere of the mesmerizing track ahead of its release date.
Winter Witches is the musical, and life partner, union of queer couple Em König and Sweeney. Their songs meld elements of alternative pop, ambient music, and neoclassical with slow-wave electronica.
The pair have released a string of singles so far: Train/Water (limited edition 7” vinyl), Unspeakable Clothes/This Religion (released on UK label TenWest), and Knightsbridge. Their tunes have been compared to greats like Depeche Mode and This Mortal Coil.
The One is another jewel in their musical crown and it sees the introduction of a glitch pop touch to their raw bedroom electronic production and ambient pop radiance.
About The One, Em and Sweeney divulge, “With Winter Witches’ signature brand of atmospheric dream-pop we mix electronic glitch beats and sequencers to create a kind of ritualistic song that builds into a frenzy, perfect for bedroom dancing on those nights where you want to disappear into your own private dance club.”
The One is indicative of what is to come on their debut album, MASC, which is currently being recorded and scheduled for release in mid-2019.
The One is available on all digital platforms (Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, Deezer, Google Play, etc) as well as download at Winter Witches’ Bandcamp: https://winterwitches.bandcamp.com
Winter Witches acknowledges the Kaurna people as the traditional and prevailing custodians of the lands on which their music is primarily created.
