Los Angeles-located alternative music artist Miya Folick is making a name for herself with her passionate vocals and potent songs. Her latest track, the blandly-titled Stock Image, is anything but that.
Folick’s angelic, church choir-like vocals open indie popper Stock Image and sporadically resurface throughout the song, adding an otherworldly dimension to the grittier, Motorik-paced sonics.
Stock Image, which is out now via Terrible Records, follows up Deadbody, and both are glimpses into what to expect on her upcoming debut LP, which was co-produced by Justin Raisen (Sky Ferreira, Angel Olsen).
Prior to these two recent singles, Folick released her Give It To Me EP, establishing herself as a well-rounded artist who is at home in the studio and on stage. She’s supported big names/acts like Kate Nash, Sleigh Bells, and Chairlift on tour, and even worked in the fashion industry as a model for Levi’s Song + Style denim campaign.
Folick’s next show is on August 18th at The Echo in LA.
