Swedish electronic powerhouse Kasbo closes the past year and rings in the new one with his personal single Snow In Gothenburg that references his hometown.
The atmospheric track was released through Foreign Family Collective / Counter Records and follows up the single Bleed It Out. Kasbo has accumulated over 50 million streams in just the past two years, along with accolades from media giant Billboard, Stereogum, THUMP, and many more outlets. He’s previously supported Glass Animals and was recently on tour with ODESZA.
Kasbo explains the meaning behind Snow In Gothenburg, stating, “The song itself is about loneliness and isolation, and the freedom of coming to terms with those feelings. Seeing the beauty of realizing that everyone has their own ways to go in life and that not everyone is supposed to have someone.”
Kasbo kicks off the reflective number with gentle static substituting for snowfall, a pushing drumbeat, lightly ringing guitar loops, and euphorically reverberating synths effusion. His vocals float high in the sonic clouds, drifting by like a daydream. The mood turns brighter as the song moves along, buoyed by Kasbo’s sharper cries and twisting electronic noise.
