Fly I Will, Because I Can, the third album from My Favourite Things is out, and as they promised, they blow a fresh whistle to all Alternative rockers. Dorothea Tachler’s “ship” managed to make an excellent record rich in melody offerings and melancholic (but not dark by all means) swaying. The Brooklyn based front woman wrote and produced all 12 songs, played many instruments (vocals, guitars, autoharp, violin, keys/synths, glockenspiel, chimes, flute, bass in two songs), did the programming, and hosted five more NYC prominent musicians that coordinated and offered their character in her music.
Tachler has recruited two occasional bassists and one upright bass player, together with a drummer and a vibraphone player, they actually to sound like a band that has been playing together for years! The team’s approach is like taking you down to the world within you, until you are face to face with own self, and being helped by their music, you may be looking in the eye where you’ll recognize that we are all the same as humans.
Yes, a pretty Shoegaze path, an Indie style, a sometimes Dream-Pop breeze, all into the eye of the NYC aura! And it’s a good record indeed, in style and groovy enough, in the acknowledged NYC alternative music scene. Also, the record has a beautiful, enigmatic front cover by Uma Sharma, that washes gently on the eye same as the music washes on the soul.
My Favourite Things has played many venues in the NYC music circuit, transporting the audiences from their chaotic built-up urban environments to a twilight world of their own. That’s one of the most appreciated “trips” in our urban lives, to dream in nice melodies, offered by talented teams!
“round and round it goes, lightning speed, always shows the lines of our goals as in tomorrow, hold it tight, reset it right.“
