NEWS: INDIE FOLK/POP ARTIST LUCY & LA MER REVEALS SWEETLY POIGNANT SINGLE HONEY, PUT YOUR WEAPONS DOWN

Honey-voiced LA-based indie folk/pop artist Lucy LaForge records under the moniker Lucy & La Mer.  The singer-songwriter and women’s rights activist has received widespread recognition, including being featured in the Huffington Post, LA Times, and Brooklyn Vegan.

Her latest single, the gently poignant and insightful Honey, Put Your Weapons Down, was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Jared Lee Gosselin (India Arie, Coinne Bailey Rae, Eminem).  The engaging song blends sweet pop with a light country twang and a whole lot of plaintive folk.

LaForge’s lyrics are centerstage on this number as she questions the viability of a complex relationship.  The chorus refrain of “It’s not that you’re not worth fighting for / I just don’t think that love should feel like war.” is just one of several astute sentiments that run through the tune.

About Honey, Put Your Weapons Down, LaForge reveals, “The central theme for the single is [about] transitioning.  Most of my songwriting happens when there’s a change occurring in my life.”

The artist’s previous EP was a success and received major market radio play and charted on popular college radio stations across the US.  With Honey, Put Your Weapons Down, LaForge continues to create captivating music.
