Young electronic music talent Justin Caruso may still be in college, but his music has graduated with accolades and chart-topping positions. Caruso has remixed tracks for renowned artists like X Ambassadors and Ellie Goulding and has also created his own original compositions.
Caruso’s debut single, Talk About Me (feat. Victoria Zaro), reached over 1 million streams within a week of release and it hit at #2 on Hypem, #2 on SoundCloud Dance, and #44 on Spotify’s Global Viral charts. Quite an accomplishment for his first song!
Even though Caruso is super-busy, he’s made the time to collaborate with vocalist Chris Lee on Love Somebody, which dropped May 12th through 3LAU’s not-for-profit dance music label BLUME. All profits from the sale/stream of Love Somebody will go towards the label’s raising of $30,000 for the American Civil Liberties Union. This organization is very important to support and protect due to the current deteriorating political climate in the US.
Caruso and Lee collaborated heavily on the melody line for Love Somebody, the hook that the whole pop/EDM hybrid song hinges upon. Lee sings in a plaintive tone amid Caruso’s bright electronic squiggles, light percussion, and peppering beat. Lee sighs in a hushed, but positive tone, “You can count on me”, “I’ll keep you safe”, and “It’s easy when you love somebody.” And it’s easy to love the laid-back flow and uplifting lyrics of this tune.
