LA-based pop/rock band Romance & Rebellion gets the heart pounding with its second single, the upbeat Vanity Fair, taken from its self-titled debut EP.
David LaViola (lead vocals, guitar), Aaron Medina (lead guitar, harmony vocals), Aleksandr Landsberger (rhythm guitar, harmony vocals), Brandon Davis (bass, harmony vocals), and Kyle Jordan Mueller (drums) craft engaging tunes that mix infectious pop melodies, sweet vocal harmonies, and high-energy power rock instrumentation – all of which shine vibrantly on new single Vanity Fair.
The lyrics of Vanity Fair delve into the irresistible pull of love (with more than a touch of lust) at first sight. A strong streak of retro-pop runs through the tune, with references to the Mona Lisa and James Dean and the use of harpsichord at its start and near its end.
The video for Vanity Fair, which was directed by Patrick Lawrence, features Romance & Rebellion performing on stage at a club, providing the perfect backing soundtrack for a fashion show. Models outfitted in anachronistic Baroque wigs and modern, barely-there black attire strut down the runway armed with emotionally impervious stares.
The band members rock Vanity Fair out with style, and in a nod to their vintage flair, a bust of a classical music composer (Could it be Mozart?) shares the stage with them, only to be knocked over by the end of the gig.
