Premiere: Real Experts – Disco Tears

London has long been the hot-bed of many fine electronic and synthpop creations and it’s latest product The Trade Off LP from Real Experts has us excited. Today we present you the premiere for the first single from this release Disco Tears featuring Daniel Angelus.

This synthpop electronic project is the brainchild of Andrew Maley. The Trade Off is Real Experts’ second album, slated for release on October 16 on the cleverly-named Black Towers Records.

It has become somewhat of a tradition for Real Experts to work with various guest vocalists in their creations – literally like some festively awesome version of musical chairs.

In this first single Disco Tears, we hear the vocals of Daniel Angelus, who is also the lead singer of Surrender Hearts. As such, he has recently shared the stage with many household names on the concert circuit, including T’Pau, Katrina and The Waves, and Musical Youth. Angelus also features on three other tracks from this album. You can check them out below.

Music for me is about sharing emotions through sound. Silence is a canvas which we paint on,” explains Angelus.

The first thing that strikes me are the immediate associations that I had when listening to this track. While they don’t sound very alike stylistically, I can’t help but refer mind-wise to Sophie Ellis Bextor’s Murder on the Dancefloor, a little Hot Chop, and the tunes from Pet Shop Boy’s epic album Behaviour, but with strong powerful vocals flavoured with dashes of Human League, Dead or Alive and Erasure.

Definitely what Real Experts has here is catchy, charming and endearing. Dramatic fresh retro-rooted future-synth music. It seems their experiment is working out just fine.

It is all about capturing the moment. Hearing something and it making a difference. Having something that matters to you. Happy or sad,” explains Andrew Maley.

We also think this is really cool that Real Experts have been working with renowned British sports journalist Patrick Barclay and will be offering their collective track as a bonus to The Trade Off LP – this exclusive version will only be available via Bandcamp but you can pre-order already in advance of the October 16 release date. You can also hear Barclay’s voice in the teaser video we present you here.
