Catching Flies – Quiet Nights

Aside from supporting Bonobo on tour, Catching Flies has been rather quiet this year. Then again, the producer toured with Bonobo, so you know he’s been gaining momentum with his fanbase. A few days ago, this new single titled Quiet Nights was released along with news of an upcoming EP.

Catching Flies made a big impression when he originally remixed Mt. Wolf’s Life Size Ghosts. The track was included on his debut The Stars EP a couple of years ago, which mainly featured reworked/reinterpreted tracks and drowsy production. It caught my ear way back then – especially the Coldplay infused track The Stars. I mention this, because Quiet Nights is a huge step forward for Catching Flies. The mood is relaxed thanks to the support of a calming acoustic guitar and piano, and the vocals are clear and present. The deep distortion of the earlier work is gone, but this track still feels very much like a Catching Flies produced piece of music. I like where this is heading and I can’t wait to hear what else is in store for us when the new EP drops in February 2015.

Keep up with Catching Flies
