Afterlife is arguably the best track on Arcade Fire’s stellar Reflektor LP. You’ve got to be pretty ballsy to try to come up with a worthy remix that can stand on its own. Flume took the challenge upon himself and somehow managed to create something that sounds completely unique. He’s taken random stems of the original and put together something that feels so real. Win Butler is seriously begging and pleading here. He’s at the point of yelling in some of the samples. This one’s got some emotion packed in that the original lacks. Well, maybe lacks isn’t the correct word. It’s just expertly hidden behind the extremely danceable instrumental track. Well done, Flume.
