Next up in our series of exclusive mixes, is Art is Heart. The goal for the series is to get a glimpse into what inspires the artists that I write about, and to find out how what they listen to influences their own sound and style. With Art is Heart, Pollimer delivered in full. Listening to this mix, I can hear exactly how the music that he has been listening to has shaped his own sound as he worked on his Find Me EP.
Pollimer pulls together an hour of songs that are bursting with atmosphere. Throughout the mix you’ll hear music from POLIÇA, Active Child, Sylvan Esso, MØ, and a bold opening track by Blood Cultures. Art is Heart is packed with airy vocals that come supported by crisp production that’s heavy on the synths and drum machines. Honestly, this thing plays like a movie soundtrack. If a book like The Perks of Being a Wallflower was written in 2013/14 and a movie about it was made fifteen years later, this is the sort of music they would use throughout the film. The songs here are passionate, promising, edgy and eclectic. Art is Heart feels like a collage of memories and is best listened to in low-lit environments.
