Palmedo – Secret Lover

palmedo secret loverWow. Without fail. Every single time I start to think to myself that no good bands are coming up here in Florida, I get sent a song that completely proves me wrong (thanks X Priest X and Day Joy). Coming out of Gainesville, Palmedo is the latest band to revive my hope in the Florida indie scene. Secret Lover is everything perfect that my ears want to hear right about now, and then some.

Delia Albert and Tim Plakon make up Palmedo, utilizing lush production and dreamy vocals. Secret Lover comes complete with an ultra sweet synth backdrop that soars over layers of supporting keys and percussion. Delia’s voice has a bit of a Solange-esque quality to it, and will easily win over fans in both the R&B and indie pop crowds.

Honestly, this is the sound that I was hoping Chairlift would go for with their upcoming album, and Palmedo beat them to it. I’m excited to hear the duo’s debut EP, Thread, when it releases July 3rd. Be on the lookout for it.

Keep up with Palmedo

Dear Palmedo,

I need you to drive up 5 hours from Gainesville to Pensacola and put on a show. Or meet in the middle in Tallahassee. Preferably somewhere well air conditioned. I’ll bring friends.

Warmest regards
– Matt

Have a listen to Palmedo’s first track, It’s You.
