I didn’t know it at the time, but ’90s house music was a major staple of my childhood. For several summers during my elementary school years, I was dropped off at the latchkey bus every morning, and about half of the time, it seemed like that bus would take all of us kids to the skating rink, where house music and Eurodance reigned supreme. Raised on country music, this sort of infectious dance music was all too new to me, and I loved it. Eventually, I would become too hardcore and into edgy rock (like Drowning Pool (I’m laughing at my old, terrible teenage taste of music now)) to bother listening to these sort of jams. I’ve discovered all sorts of genres as I’ve gotten older, and most recently, I’ve been led back to the sweet, pulsing sounds of house music. This video for Duke Dumont’s latest single, “Need U (100%)” featuring A*M*E, hit my inbox earlier today and after watching it, the song has been stuck in my head all day. The video is pretty entertaining, as well.
