Turrentine Jones – Della May

Turrentine Jones’ music is drenched in the sounds of the mid-’60s mod era. The Manchester three piece has a real “let’s get back to the roots” attitude that has been missing in much of today’s rock n’ roll. Consisting of a guitar, a Hammond organ, and a drum kit, Turrentine Jones has the perfect combination for a slick, ultra hip blues band. Just three guys with retro inspirations and the phenomenal talent to pull it off the classic sound, while still managing to sound contemporary.

“Della May” gets the feature here because it’s Turrentine Jones’ latest single: out now on US iTunes (rest of the globe on Saturday) with the B-side “Electric Angel”. However, I highly recommend that you take a quick trip over to the band’s Soundcloud page to give the rest of their songs a good listen. Start off with “Slam the Door”. It sort of reminds me of “Green Onions” by Booker T & the MG’s, and that song is just awesome.
