The Sweet Five #24

Every week we will be featuring The Sweet Five! What’s The Sweet Five you may ask? Well I’ll drop you five sweet songs that you should listen to once a week, that will help you get over your mid-week slump and set sail towards the ever-nearing weekend! Ready? Okay!

Underwater Seacreatures – X’s & O’s

This is the opening track for the brand new album Women, which dropped only days ago. This is a radical upbeat electro funk track which has taken the band in a new direction since their first release. “X’s & O’s” is a fun song that you can play during any mood.

A Shipwreck A Castaway – I’ve Got A Bad Feeling About This

I feel like the pop-punk genre is rather hit or miss, but A Shipwreck A Castaway always brings plenty of hits for me. There’s nothing quite like the energy these guys put into all of their songs, and they are all very good. It was hard to pick just one, but I always fall back on “I’ve Got A Bad Feeling About This”.

Buddahead – Sour Grapes

I’m personally a fan of sour grapes, and this track, “Sour Grapes”. I don’t know enough about Buddahead aside from this track – but this is what these posts are all about. Finding out more. It’s been too long since I last heard this song.

Josh Ritter – Lantern

“Lantern” is a very sweet song within its own right. Ritter has a mesmerizing voice. With a voice like that, I’d love to be the light of this man’s lantern. Ritter does not get enough credit.

Midnight Matinee – Melanie

Songs about girls are always pretty cliche, and generally pretty shit. Midnight Matinee’s “Melanie” is not the rule. You only have to hear the vocals to feel them. The amount of emotion sold is remarkable. This is sweet, this is so sweet.
