I got my first taste of The Seshen through their excellent remix of Trails and Ways’ single, “Border Crosser“. The Oakland group blessed that track with plenty of pulsing synths and a sexy, electronic R&B groove. When their new single, “Turn”, showed up in my inbox, I was excited to hear what else The Seshen had to offer, but I had no clue what to expect.
A lonely acoustic guitar, backed by the familiar warmth of vinyl crackle opens up “Turn” on a peaceful note. This doesn’t last much longer than 30 seconds, and soon the track transforms into a lush electronic soundscape driven by a precise, head-nodding beat. Don’t even get me started with the vocals. I could go on all day giving praise on how stunning they sound paired with the rhythmic instrumental.
I’m currently getting myself caught up on the rest of The Seshen’s music, starting with their self titled, debut album: The Seshen. If you’re new to the band, I highly recommend you do the same while we wait on their upcoming EP, in which “Turn” will be featured on.
