The Sweet Five #21
The Downtown Fiction - I Just Wanna Run
When I first heard this track, I did want to do like the title encourages. Such a great up tempo rock ballad that will get the juices pumping. Speaking of pumping, I like to have this "I Just Wanna Run" going when I hit the gym. I always smile when I hear this one.
Duffy - Warwick Avenue
Why can't a guy like this song, huh? Ladies, stop hogging all the female artists for yourselves and let us sing along while you relax in a bubble bath. Or, if you're in the friend-zone - sing this with your heartbroken friend! I know it's a bit of an old track, but I think it's a bit of a classic.
James Vincent McMorrow - If I Had A Boat
The world has not heard enough from McMorrow. Delicate is such an appropriate word here. Soft, beauty. I think the opening to the song could have been a hymn. I really like his style of singing, his voice is a bit different than the rest of the folk singers, which is why I wish we had more from him.
The Phoenix Foundation - Buffalo
This is a very hip, folk track. The Phoenix Foundation had my head bobbin' just fifteen seconds into this one. There are some really cool elements about this song, that when you hear vocals you think very old school. Yet, the guitaring is a really refreshing take. I dig this a lot. "Buffalo" will stay in your head!
The Weeknd - Loft Music
If you know me personally, you know that I have a lot of respect for The Weeknd. His music is just so mesmerizing and so well produced, that it's hard to believe he's still so very young yet has produced so many brilliant albums. I've been following his progress since 2011 and everything about The Weeknd I like. The amount of feeling in each song is mind-blowing.
