The Sweet Five #20
Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars - Safe & Sound
So yeah, Taylor Swift makes this blog post this week, but only with the backing of The Civil Wars. The sound Tay-Swiz produces on this deep track is something that should be replicated throughout her career. She suits this style. The Civil Wars pretty much speak for themselves, and the soft harmonising feature is hauntingly sweet. I want more of this sorta stuff from Swifty!
Of Monsters And Men - Mountain Sound
This track is just superb from the get go. Our Icelandic friends have produced a gem here. A song that you can instantly just fall in love with, a song that has such a brilliant upbeat sound. They are really hitting their straps right now. The mix of male and female vocals is simply powerful. The festival video is so cool, too!
Labrinth feat. Emeli Sande - Beneath Your Beautiful
When I first heard this song, I was dying to find out who it was. This is an element to both their careers they needed. Wow. This is just a hit that I have had on repeat lately since I purchased it. Labrinth has a very distinctive voice, and when Sande comes in I just feel as if it's nothing short of perfect. Two Brittish stars that have the world at their feet.
Tiki Taane - Is Our Love Worth Fighting For
Acoustic guitar, native Maori tattoos and a magnificent voice - Tiki Taane likes a simple approach to his music, but less is more in this occasion. Not a traditional love song, but the message is clear. I find myself in a safe place listening to this. I feel so relaxed. This is a song that has so much.
@Peace - Cake
I don't expect anyone to have heard of @Peace before, but you now have and you need to. Girl Songs is out Valentines Day, a follow up to their album @Peace. The chillwave hip hop throws are simple and brilliant. Music to listen to when you simply are at peace. This, like the track above is another New Zealand artist. (Woo! proud!)
