I hope you don't mind a little explicit lyrics, because The Deal is too fresh to ignore. If soul and hip-hop got together and had a baby, this would be that baby. The rhythm and beats are a straight throw back to a classier age and are paired perfectly with the vocals. The sexy and sultry chorus is the perfect match for the intellectual flow.

So we all know why this song is getting posted, right? That cover art is is super laughs. I can't even look at it without a big, goofy grin forming across my face. DJ Ernie Blingo truly knew what he was doing when he crafted this piece of work. Disco Lights is so excellently corny, that it works in the best way possible. It's downright fun. DJ Ernie Bling, I can't find you one Twitter or Facebook, but I hope that one day you see this post and know that you brought great joy to me for a period of 3:08 (and several 3:08 afterwards). You can download Disco Lights for the choose your own price option.

If you've seen the movie Drive then this should sound familiar to you. The movie was littered with synthwave gems that enhance the, almost film noir like, atmosphere in the movie. One that stood out though was "Under Your Spell" by Desire from their album II. Now that we have that out of the way we should clear up one more thing, yes, the lead singer sounds like Zoe Deschanel, but its not her... I checked.

It's Smooth Sax time again! My weekly post dedicated the the extremely amazing sounds created by the saxophone. Let's be honest, it's just a sexy sounding instrument. This week's feature is The Beach Boys' 1989 super tacky, yet extremely fun hit, Kokomo. This is just the epitome of an island dweller's theme song right here. Kokomo, out Jimmy Buffets any Jimmy Buffet song any day of the week (and I can't stand Jimmy Buffet's music (sorry Joebags)). Once again, because this seems to happen often, the sax only makes one appearance, and it's towards the end of the song. However, it is definitely smooth enough to get a featured post. Is it just me or does it seem like 70's and 80's music producers would sit and be like, "This song is missing something... Oh! I'll just throw in a saxophone at the end. Problem solved." Sure the problem is solved, for you, but it just leaves me wanting more sax.
On another note, who else is super excited about The Beach Boys' reunion (Brian Wilson included)!?!? This guy is!

C418 album 72 Minutes Of Fame is an amalgam of house, electronic, ambient, bass, and kitchen sink. C418 has been around for a few years now and gained a little prominence in the last year. If you recognize the artist, it is because he did the entire Minecraft soundtrack. However, I digress, because we are actually here to talk about this masterfully crafted electronic infused instrumental masterpiece called 72 Minutes Of Fame. The album ranges from head pounding beats to blissful serenades, and every song feels like it came directly from a motion picture soundtrack. In all honesty, I have been listening to it on repeat for the last 2 hours and I don't foresee this dropping off of my play list anytime soon. Do your ears a favor and listen to "I Jike My Lob" and "BD08" back to back, or just listen to the whole album back to back.

Ahhhhh... some refreshing hip-hop. Hip-hop is my favorite genre of music, but I'm extremely picky when it comes to what kinds I listen to. There's a lot of terrible stuff out there. The Divine ScienZe LP is just plain good. Straight to the point, real hip-hop. Rapper, ScienZe teamed up with producer King I Divine to create one heck of a head bobbing album. King I Divine's production sampling is a real stand out here, and Scienze's delivery meshes so well with the instrumentals given to him. With features like Blu, QuESt, Sene, and a slew of other talents there's no way this album will let hip-hop heads down.

I'm going to start this post off with pointing out that album cover. That is awesome. Simplistic, pleasant to the eye, good color scheme, and not to mention the scenery. Seeing this made me want to hear what was behind that picture. What I heard, was music that perfectly describes the album art. The sign shining on a golden field with the mountains. Their EP, Different Place, is where you are taken once you press play. Don't you dare press stop either, because that would be a huge mistake on your part. All the sounds of this shining gem perfectly combine to bring you to that different place. The soundscapes alone are just phenomenal. There is no "silent"space in this record. Their sound fills every spot on the track leaving nothing un-turned. This EP was released back in October, and right now I am looking forward to hearing more from these guys. If their follow up to Different Place is half as good as this EP, it will be an amazing release. Check it out for yourself.

Power pop with some classic ska influence? I'm intrigued... and I'm liking it. The Pomps combine two genres together, coming up with a completely fresh, yet throwback, sound. I can really picture myself listening to The Pomps parked up at a drive-in, sipping up a chocolate shake as I one arm it around my steady gal. Yeah, it's that kind of music. The Pomps just deliver that classic innocence that has been completely lost in pop music, lately. The use of horns liven up their sound so much, creating a downright fun atmosphere. Just go ahead and press play. I'm going to go back to daydreaming of myself with a Pompadour.

Here I've been scouring the internet for great, little known gems to post about, and Verona has been just hanging out in my iTunes for months! I was driving around today with my iPod on super shuffle and Verona's song Around You popped up and I instantly knew what I was posting about tonight. I first found out about Verona on Facebook awhile back, when some random Joe Schmo commented, "Hey if you like this, check out Verona." on a status update by either Kenna or Curtis Santiago (I know it was definitely one of those two, can't remember which, though). That Joe Schmo kindly included a YouTube link to Around You, and I took the bait. Verona formed back in early 2010, and since then have been making some awesomely catchy, ultra-synth jams. Around You is the song that originally got me hooked, but when Verona released their next song, Hero, late last year, I've been craving more of their upbeat, electro sound ever since.

Earlier today... well, technically yesterday, U.S. Royalty dropped a new song for the world to appreciate. The name of the new jam is Sleepy Eyes, and it is anything but sleepy. Last year, U.S. Royalty released an excellent debut album, Mirrors, that flew way too low under the radar for my liking. I was hoping they'd blow up like Young the Giant did. Sleepy Eyes, has U.S. Royalty adding a few new sounds to their bag of classics. The newer sound has so much depth within, that you'll find yourself hearing a new instrument each time you listen. Sleepy Eyes leaves me with a ton of anticipation for what U.S. Royalty will be gracing us with next.

New Myths are an all girl trio, and probably the best one I've ever heard. It's a shame that it's not too often you hear of a really good, all girl, music trio. Don't you dare say The Dixie Chicks! Don't even think it. Yesterday, New Myths released their self titled EP, and it contains 3 very fantastic songs. They make great use of their instruments, creating a truly unique indie sound. Here's some of the things you'll be hearing: a psychedelic guitar, moody synths, energetic drums, a variety of violins, and layers upon layers of haunting vocals. This is some dark dance music, and I am digging it 100%.

Blondfire is so refreshing right now. I've spent over two hours now listening through, what seemed like, a never ending horde of terrible music. Long story short, some of these music sites need to stop letting everyone and their brother upload their home recordings. At least have some minimal qualifications. Sorry about the rant. Get ready to serve yourself a nice Sunday treat and enjoy Blondfire's song, Walking With Giants. They are making some really, really great indie pop. Really great (can't emphasize that enough). Walking With Giants, is so infectiously fun and catchy, you'll be singing along with the chorus before the song is over. I did a little research on Blondfire, and they have quite the story (check it out here.). They released a decent album called My Someday back in 2008, but I am digging this new sound so much more. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of Blondfire's music as it becomes available.

Good evening friends! Do you like good music? Do you like amazing music? If you are who I think you are, then you answered yes to both of those questions. I need you to sit down because what I'm about to say is going to make you jump up and shout, and you cannot do that if you are already standing. Reggie Williams, here, has crafted one amazing EP.
