The Sweet Five #18 Christmas Edition
It's the most wonderful time of the year. I think it's only apropriate that this week's edition of The Sweet Five is Christmas themed. The Sweet Five will also take a wee break and will be back on the 16th of January for what will be, no doubt, a special 2013. Thank you all for your support of this blog and the articles we share. Keep up the good work and with your help lets make 2013 a breakthrough year!
Merry Christmas - Stephen
Queen - Thank God It's Christmas
Freddy Mercury and his band of merry brothers put on a wonderful performance in this one. A classic. How the world is not the same place after his death. One of the most influential artists in the history of music. Thank God it's Christmas and thank God for this wonderful song.
Jose Feliciano - Feliz Navidad
Everyone sorta just mumbles (Okay, maybe it's just me) the Spanish parts to this song, but always belt out the famous 'Feliz Navidad'. A very uptempo and fun singalong, Christmas is not the same unless it's sung in Spanish!
Wham! - Last Christmas
George Michael gave his heart to the wrong person (along with other things but I won't get in to detail!). You're not a human unless you admit Wham! as your guilty pleasure. You don't have to dance around in your wife's panties to enjoy this but it might just help set the mood for this sweet song.
The Jackson Five - I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Back when MJ was alive, Black and just known as 'Little Michael' and the Jackson Five had sweet 60's dress sense and wicked fro's. This was a simple time on Earth. I have always loved this song, and the way The Jackson Five have sung this is special.
The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York
What I believe is the greatest Christmas song ever, it's not Christmas in my house unless this song is heard with a whisky or two. I love this song, and can happily listen to this all year round. One of the greatest songs ever in fact. This is truly magical. Merry Christmas everyone!
