The Sweet Five #8
Home Brew feat. Esther Stephens - Basketball Court
Smooth. One way to describe this tune. Home Brew are a group that have unmeasured talent in the game and this song kills it. Add in the sultry seduction by the gorgeous Esther Stephens and you will be impressed. The use of sax just tops it off. A song that I can never get sick of.
Blue Bird - Give Me Light
Up tempo, and sweet. You only have to hear the opening line to be taken in by the soft, catchy vocals of Marta Fiedler. This seven-piece definitely know just how to make a good song, and this is no exception. Filled with colourful lyrics and ear-catching instruments - this song does not miss a beat.
Deas Vail - Birds
Oh yes, another bird related song. But it's okay - because it's damn catchy and hella awesome. Lead singer Wesley Blaylock has been featured on TheRecordStache before solo - but not like this. This song is an epic ballad of lovelyness. The chorus is simply remarkable and this is a very powerful track.
Polar Bear Club - I'll Never Leave New York
I know what you're thinking - oh sweet! A band by polar bears! Sorry to disappoint in that aspect, but Polar Bear Club are actually quite talented. This is off their third album. These indie-rockers lay out this track just right, and the different sound of vocals Jimmy Stadt tops it all off. Very cool.
Sucré - Troubled Waters
A debut album sets all sort of benchmarks for a group, and the standard will have to be quite high for Sucré as there is no low-point in this one. This track screams beauty. Soft, supple and warm. Stacy Depree-King has a magnificent voice and the mystery in this track is superb.
